The Public Service Commission Election: Primer for Georgia Catholics
As Catholics, we are called to care for creation and protect the poor and vulnerable. Pope Francis’s Laudato Si’ reminds us: “The climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all.” Our faith calls us to act for justice, sustainability, and the dignity of every person.
Researching candidates and voting in the PSC election is one way to live out Catholic Social Teaching. It is a chance to stand with the vulnerable, protect our common home, and ensure future generations inherit a livable planet.
Encounter Georgia invites you to make your voice heard - Let’s answer the call of Laudato Si’ and choose a future of clean energy, justice, and care for creation.

Why the PSC Election Matters
The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) regulates the state’s electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications. Commissioners decide where our energy comes from, how it is delivered, and how much we pay for it. These decisions shape Georgia’s economic future, community well-being, and our care for creation .
Energy policy is environmental policy. The PSC’s choices ripple far beyond monthly utility bills—they influence the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the climate our children will inherit. This election will determine whether Georgia embraces a future rooted in clean energy, affordability, and justice, or whether we remain locked into outdated systems that pollute and place burdens on vulnerable communities .
As Catholics, we are called to live out faithful citizenship by protecting the poor and safeguarding creation. Voting in the PSC election is one way to put our values into action and help build a sustainable, just future for all.
